September 13, 2010 Did you know that sodium (salt) is so abundant in our food supply that the average North American consumes 2 – 3 times the recommended amount? High sodium intake is linked to high blood pressure and fluid retention. So, instead of reaching for the salt shaker, try using spices that don’t contain sodium (like garlic powder, onion powder), consider making your own salad dressings and limit your intake of canned and packaged foods. The goal is to keep your sodium intake to less than 2300 mg each day! |
