November 29, 2009 Berries rank on the top of the fruit list due to their rich antioxidant content, meaning they can help decrease the risk of certain cancers. They also contain anti-inflammatory compounds which can help decrease the risk of stroke. Raw berries are more beneficial than cooked berries as the heating process damages some of those helpful compounds. Buy frozen berries when fresh ones are not available, or freeze your own fresh berries when they are in abundance. Be careful with canned berries as they almost always contain added sugar. |
