November 8, 2009 As cold and flu season is upon us, it’s important to boost our body’s immune system. Make sure to follow a well balanced diet that includes lots of fruits and vegetables. These foods are rich in antioxidants, vitamin C, vitamin E, and betacarotene and these will help keep your immune system strong. Protein sources such as lean meats, dairy, eggs and legumes are especially important because they supply the amino acids that your body needs to build the components of your immune system. Lean meats also contain iron and zinc; deficiencies of these minerals can depress your immune system. Also, don’t forget to drink plenty of fluids as water is essential for the function of all our body’s cells. |
